Snobbery was all around me growing up in Lakeland. I lived on the North side of town, otherwise known as the redneck or country side of town. The upper class or snobs lived on the South side of town. If you’re offended by this. Sorry. I’m not saying… I’m just saying…
Digressing, I told myself that I would never venture into the realm of snobbery, but I have. It first began with wine and me and my wife’s honeymoon to Northern California. Its tough, almost dang near impossible, for me to drink bad wine. The offense is palpable when I see someone walk out of the grocery store with box wine. Snobbery snuck into my life again with coffee. Its been tough living in this part of Africa where its easier to get a gun than a good cup of coffee. And don’t even talk to me about Nescafe. Snobbery again, and finally, crept into my being with beer. I like a good beer. Not the High Life or Old Millwater, but a good microbrew, like New Beligium or Blue Moon, which isn’t much of a microbrew anymore.
This brings me to scouring the internet and stumbling upon the Emerald Coast Beer Festival in Pensacola, Florida. Who knew? I sure didn’t know about such a grand event. Now, I’ll grant you its a long way from Central Florida, but for a good brew, “Have glass, will travel.”
Then I scanned the breweries that will be represented and noticed that there were quite a few breweries in Florida. I thought that Florida would only be known for its succulent sweet wine. This Florida boy is learning new stuff all the time. I guess when I return I’m going to have to take two road trips, one for wine and one for beer. Dang it! Here’s two links to other Florida beer fests:
Do you have a favorite Florida beer? Do you know of any other beer festivals in Florida?
