The Florida Blogger

When I use a title like the one above it’s usually about someone else.  But this one is about me.  When I began this little soiree called Suwannee Refugee, it was more therapeutic than anything else.  I was in Africa not knowing whether I was going stay on the Dark Continent or come back to the greatest state in the Union.

I wrote about anything I could find on Florida.  But the main category was writing about the Suwannee River.  It was a symbol that I could hang on to and long for.  I read stories about it and dreamed about the day that I would no longer be a refugee away from my home.

That day finally came when I returned to the U.S.  I was no longer a refugee, but a citizen, again.  And thus, it has come time to change the name of this blog to The Florida Blogger.  This had been on my mind for a while, but only when I read The Travelling Writer (formerly known as Aspiring Author) did I know what needed to be done.  Blogs should follow a person’s life allowing for name changes, if necessary.

Now, you might be asking yourself what kind of changes will accompany such a prestigious name change.  None, really, other than the title.  The url will remain the same.  What I write about will also remain the same.  The only change will be the title, which will more accurately depict where I’m at in life and this blog.

Enjoy!

Smart rebranding! But I am always going to call you SR, not FB.

"The Florida Blogger" is a wider brand than the geographical niche brand of "Suwannee Refugee," and I also like that you use the definite article that implies you are the ultimate and perhaps the Florida blogger-designee (i. e. THE Florida Blogger vs. The FLORIDA blogger).

Now, though, you have a great responsibility to cover the entire state! Have at it! :-)

Mr. Blogger, may I call you, The? Waiting for you first, non-introductory post. Wondering if it may be about someplace I know.

  • The Florida Blogger

365-Yeah, I don't think I could have gotten away with "A Florida Blogger." It doesn't have the same panache.

Dave-You can call me whatever you like, just don't call me late for free food. Yeah, I'm going to get the post up about Kings Landing (aka the other Redneck Riviera) and RSR.

Why wasn't I on the "consult list:" I like Suwannee Refugee? Did you think of any other names you considered. Although Florida Blogger is good, and I am sure I'll get used to it, how about "Florida Fanatic" or the more esoteric "The Peninsula and I."

  • The Florida Blogger

RVS-I did consider a few other names like the Florida Insider, but that seemed to CIAish. And the Florida Writer but that seem to literary. The Peninsula and I make me laugh. Thanks for the late night cackle.
