Fostering Bruiser

Many of you loyal readers of The Florida Blogger know that we have becomes passionate about our dogs, Havana and Quincy.  We adopted both of them from local breed specific rescues.  Havana came from Adopt-A-Bull Rescue in Coral Springs and Quincy came from Florida Boxer Rescue.

Well, yours truly thought it would be a great idea to foster a boxer.  It would be a trial run to see if we could do more of this in the future.  Thus, we added Bruiser to the mix.

Bruiser came to us with some medical issues.  He had recently had a cancerous tumor removed from his leg.  Apparently tumors are pretty common in boxers.

Bruiser took up a lot of our time.  More than I had imagined.  With vet visits in Plant City (30 minutes away) and time spent training him on the rules of our house, Bruiser was a full time job.  Bruiser was the main reason why I didn’t post as much on The Florida Blogger.  I was just too dang tired.

But after three weeks we got Bruiser adopted out.  He’s with his new home in Riverview.

If you think your time is free enough for a rescue or adoption make sure to give AABR or FBR a ring.

It's always amazing how much personality a photo of a dog can have. Boxers are a fun breed.

I too have rescue dogs and have been a foster dog mom several times. This last time we fostered a dog, placed her with a family and it didn't work out. So now she's living out her remaining years (she's very old) with us. BE WARNED

Misti-He was a good looking dog, for sure.

RVS-I think the boxer is known as the clown of dogs.

NM-One of my fears of fostering was that we would get a dog and have it forever. That's why I took photos to get the dog adopted faster. Glad it worked!
