There are two ways to do this review. One is on the beer and the other is on the atmosphere/location. Let’s start with the first.
When you’re into craft brews like I am, you’re bound and determined to hear about every last brewery and brewpub. I don’t remember exactly how I found out about the Pour House, but I think it was through Twitter since that’s where all my beer friends live. The Pour House is like most craft brew pubs. They have an extensive selection in the bottle and on tap. They also carry some wine, which widens their customer base. They also have many local brews on tap, like Swamphead Brewery and Cigar City. Now that Tampa Bay Brewing Company is branching out, I think they might even have some of their brew.
Now onto the second part. Location and atmosphere. Again, this my review. Others might disagree with me, but I’m an expert at my opinion. The Pour House is located in the revamped Channelside District of Tampa. It is underneath one the condo buildings. The inside is very modern with its clean smooth look. (I think this is why they offer wine because many upperclass patrons probably don’t do beer.) But this is where it begins to sour for me. When I go into a restaurant, coffee shop, or brewpub I want it to stand out in my mind. The Pour House doesn’t. You could take the Pour House and put it anywhere in the country and no one would know the difference. They’re trying to be creative as they have some artists throughout the pub, but, for me, its not enough.
So, let’s recap. Beer selection is great!! Location and atmosphere leaves something to be desired.
Have you tried out the Pour House? Thoughts? What did you think of the atmosphere?
If anyone from the Pour House reads this little ol’ blog, I would enjoy the opportunity to do an interview with you. Drop me a line in the comment section or look me up
