This was a trip that we took to Bahia Honda during the first part of December. This is the final of three posts encapsulating that trip. Enjoy!
To cap off the trip, I thought I’d leave you with a few tidbits or scraps, rather than telling you about a third day that wasn’t all that exciting.
- Ever tried to pronounce “Bahia”. I’ve heard it pronounced ‘Ba-hay-a’ or ‘Ba-hi-a’. One of my goals for the trip was to find out how to correctly pronounce this troubling word. So, when we were at The Porch sipping on a brew, we ran across a native. Yes, there are still natives that roam the streets of Key West. He said Bahia was pronounced ‘Bay-a’. So, there ya go. And now I know.
- The Keys are beautiful in December. I don’t know if it’s the emerald water or the mild temperatures. They are something to behold any time of year, but especially nice in December.
- I’ve thought many times about moving to the Keys many times. And not in the “Oh, man I would love to live in the Keys” sense either. I’ve really considered it. But realistically, I just don’t know if I could handle living on an island. Sure, it would be fun for a little while, but I believe I would grow restless and want to spread out a little.
Well, that’s it for the Keys this year, but I’m looking to book another trip in 2012, so stay tuned…
As I wind down my story about the Keys, do you have any stories to tell. Any tales that need to be told. Drop me a comment. The Florida Blogger readers want to read what you have to share.
