Hurricane Season Is Upon Us

Just like football and tailgating, there are few constant things that happen in Florida.  This time of year means its hurricane season.  Although we haven’t had any hurricanes hit Florida yet in this year, we’ve already had two tropical storms give us some much needed rain.

I was recently watching a video about the 20 year anniversary of hurricane Andrew which hit Miami.

What hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans with water, Andrew did to Miami with wind. And before you short sighted people think Katrina was fiercer.  It wasn’t.  Andrew was a category 5 when it hit land, while Katrina was a 3 when it hit.

These hurricanes aren’t no joke and can’t be played around with. But don’t be that goober in a tank top that bum rushes Home Depot and Publix when a hurricane is a day away from hitting your shanty.  Get set up now.  One of the must have items on my list is a generator.

What are must haves on your bucket list for hurricane season?  Flashlights? Gas?  Let us know at the Florida Blogger.  Drop a comment.

I always liked a safe place to hide. Don’t forget bottled water.

What I’ve done in the past is fill the bathtubs up with water. Seems a bit more cost effective.
